A Guide To Our Racing
-
3, 2, 1, Go Countdown
We usually use a 3,2,1 start or 5, 4, 1-minutes (ask before racing starts) countdown but you just need to go when everyone else goes.
-
Sailing Watch
A sailing watch is useful to get you over the line on time.
-
Race Courses
We have 4 different race courses but tend just to use a 3 buoy triangular one - just follow the boats around you if you are unsure.
-
Where We Race
We always hope to race in the harbour but if it is too windy we may decide to sail around in the marina.
-
Committee Boat
Our committee boat is made up of volunteers and most of them have a good knowledge of sailing and are willing to help you out.
-
Safety Boat
We will always have a safetyboat with qualified individuals out to assist with our club events.
-
Windy Days!
Remember in windier weather it can be harder going so remember to have a big breakfast beforehand and maybe think about reefing (furling) your sail one or two times, if you unsure just ask someone else, we are all happy to help!
-
Rigging & Launching
We rig boats on the marina beach around the slipway and launch from here leaving trolleys high up the beach so to allow the tide to come in or out.
-
Boat Hires
If you do not have your own boat then you may be able to hire from Aberdeenshire Sailing Trust, More info on there website at https://www.aberdeenshiresailing.org/boat-hire-1 or email AST at angie@aberdeenshiresailing.org

We All Capsise!
We all make mistakes and it is nothing to worry about! Don’t stress because you capsized, just laugh it off. We all have spectacular capsizes!
